Admin Maintenance

07 | May | 2008

WP 2.5.1 came out a while back and I was impatient for my hosting provider to get with the program. Network Solutions has been good to me, but their Open Source Library, doesn’t actually keep up with the times very easily. Thankfully, the upgrade process was as smooth as WP advertised and nothing on the front end went awry.

I’m it

Every post is now tagged with the fancy new tagging system in wordpress 2.3. I’ve even done some reorganizing: some posts that were had direct links to pages were removed as the ‘page’ itself no longer exists. I’m rather enjoying maintaining my own site these days, but as I’ve been rehashing all the posts and such, I’m eager to get started on my backlog of projects. Both artistic and domestic.

The tag cloud has proved useful as an artist by filtering the prominence of each tag by size. It’s good for self reflection and interpretation. ‘Art’ is obviously quite big, followed by ‘imagination’; then ‘thoughts’, ‘explanations’ and ‘meanderings’. I’ve always been a concept driven artist/person, existing in the abstract and non-linear. This is just nice to see it take a form others might readily understand.

Baggin’ and Taggin’

So along with this upgrade, I get widgets over in the side bar there (look to the right). It makes layouts easier and also adds ‘tags‘ into the functionality. Tags are cool, look at what is known as the ‘tag cloud’ in the sidebar. The bigger terms have more posts associated with them, so you can guess that ‘art’ is probably going to be 100s of times the size of any others by the time I get done tagging all my old posts. However, it’s late, I’m tired, and I have to deal with painters tomorrow.
