Face of Time – Triangles

Fot - Triangle 1 FoT - Triangle 2 Fot - Triangle 3

These are some shots of the FoT’s tirangular boxes assembled, all still very rough on the edges. I don’t mind sharing that it was very difficult to cut up these individual panels. I was quite happy with the FoT as one solid piece, but ‘needs must as the devil drives’. I had to decide which would be more precious: the individual pieces, or just a big, somewhat flat collages. And besides…I have a killer way of displaying it, though I do need to come up with the scratch for it.

After a few frustrations with the website itself, I think I finally got all these thumbnail images sussed (sp?). There had been a problem with them not creating their own page when in the design when one clicked on them. After upgrading the wordpress system kajigger, I had to reformat the templatemabob because the netsol directions were unclear, quote: ‘Upgrading will cause altered files to be rewritten, all templates will remain intact.’ So I thought: ‘Ok, the stylesheet won’t be affected, just the .php files’ Boy was I wrong. As for the thumbnail solution, I’m not sure if that helped. I’m not entirely sure how this error is being caused, oh well.

As I expalin this work to people in private conversation, I realize I’m putting a lot into it. There is a tremendous amount of thought/concept/idea here that stretches beyond the ’seen’. It’s a goal to engage the viewer in a world of interconnection and enigma. Hope it goes well.

Yes, This Will Work…

FoT TriangleWell, the first one has gone smoothly enough. As mentioned in a previous post, this is the (more or less) final representation of a segment of the Face of Time. It’s a little rough around the edges (literally), but I’m happy with the turn out. Depicted here is the bottom most, left-hand segment, which just happens to have binary on both sides. 1 down, 32 to go…

All Binary Boxes

Face of Time - box topsAll the copper and steel binary elements are in place, and my fingers hurt. To confess, they are just copper cut tacs and staple gun staples. Not placed by a staple gun though, such a thing is a little too unmanageable for delicate placement. They may be crooked, but that’s okay for me. Being a machine language, the attitude would seem to stipulate a very controlled aesthetic, however, machined as the staples are, the tacks are massively produced in a haphazard process. The heads of the tacks have wonderful little imperfections—even vary quite a bit in size—so if the staples are slightly crooked in oreintation, I’m okay with it. It’s the order that’s important.
