Technology Extends the Alien Hand of Friendship

In researching signs and symbols for inspiration, I began to wonder about similarities in imagery existing as subconscious metaphors or subtle hints to premises previously conceived.  That is to say a fictional element has engrained itself deeply into our popular culture that similarities in similar or related sectors unwittingly use variations of said elements.  That’s a lot of big words, I know, but in the following visual similarity we have nods to various elements of culture: Speed, Science, Technology, Nerdiness/Geekiness, and one of my favorite things: Time. Hopefully by posting these 2 pictures next to each other, the reader will see what I mean.

I’m brainstorming on more graphic design ideas, looking at symbols, signs and what not. There’s also packaging that will be involved with these next ideas. A main one has to do with a soda brand, and another to do with t-shirts. What these have to do with the following is anybody’s guess.

 

Update:  I could not stand the layout when I 1st published this, so in the minutes following the post I mucked around with it until I was satisfied
